I have taken part in the in the charrette since Monday and have seen more or less everything, and its all really good and worth while. I am only 16 and was taking part in the charrette for young peoples interests as well as the whole town. I live in Lochgelly and most of my friends and family are there, but they all have younger brothers or sisters and I think Lochgelly needs more for young people to do.
I would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the charrette and all the people bringing ideas forward.
Lastly I would like to thank andres duany and his team.
I am 11 years old and i thought the charrette was a great idea. Everything said will make a big change to lochgelly. I think the tesco super market will help the other shops do better because some of them are not doing very well.
At last,a substantial and long term investment plan for Lochgelly.I view this investment as a great opportunity for my children to grow and develop as part of their community and town.
The plans are radical but necessary if Lochgelly is to sustain it’s identity, and i would urge everyone to particapate in this unique opportunity.
Well done to everyone involved and good luck to our future !.
I also attended most of the charrett meetings. I agree with some of his plans ie new school next to the west school, Houses instead of flats, but I have SERIOUS CONCERNS about a new road round the perimeter of the public park which could endanger our children playing in the park, Extending house building to the South of the Town wil bring people closer to pollutants from Mossmoran and the dual carriageway.
His belief in local urbanisaion (ie 10 minutes walking distance from public transport & five from shops ) In reality the two options for a Supermarket / Petrol Station at Auchterderran Rd & a small shop outlet at Hall St are of equal distance for the majority of Lochglly shoppers, So why the negativity to the Auchterderran site leaves me asking questions?. An expensive exercise by fife council. You Decide ! ! WILL THEY LET US ??
nice to see local property developer and community council chairperson Ernie McPherson attend the charrette, but was he there for personal business gain, representing the community, or representing the community council?
It looks to me that this is nothing more than good publicity with Lochgelly being split up between property developers so they can all benefit from the Lochgelly cash cow.
Another interesting fact is that the locality manager for Lochgelly (Lynne Leitch) only stays a few doors down from the owner of Lomond Homes who have made a lot of money from developments in Lochgelly. Is there a connection?
